ABOUT REALBASE
With the RealBase program you can search through and view thousands of homes
currently for sale in Oregon. Although most are near the Portland Metro area,
coast, mountain, and eastern Oregon desert property are also available.
DATABASE FILES
NOTICE: If you don't already have one, you will need a database file(s) of
homes for the RealBase program.
We distribute a sample database of Professionals 100, Realtors listings monthly
to several states. The file is named OR-0191A.ZIP, OR-0291A.ZIP,etc.This breaks
down as 0191 = Jan 1991, 0291 = Feb 1991.
Other databases are available via the RealBase Request door program at the Real
Estate N.W. BBS, (503)653-9068. This program allows you to request custom data-
base files pulled from a main database of more than 7,000 homes. It takes aprox
24 hours to proccess the request. Once done it will be availble for downloading
and on-line searching/viewing with the RealBase program.
DATABASE FILES BY MAIL
The database files can be pretty large. For those users serious about possibly
purchasing real estate in Oregon and willing to consider working with one of
the agents participating in the Real Estate N.W. BBS, we are willing to mail
database files to you on 5.25 or 3.5 inch floppy disks free of charge. Those of
you interested in this method, contact Raymond Keith voice at (503)653-9720.

ABOUT THIS USER MANUAL
RealBase can be operated by just about anyone with very little instruction, but
some of you may find the following helpfull hints usefull.
SPECIAL (See Page 2 of manual) NOTICE
There are TWO versions of the RealBase program, a PUBLIC version and a PRIVATE
version. The only difference between them involves the address of the home for
sale. In the public version, the address is NOT displayed, in the private
version, the address IS displayed so that the user may drive by the home for a
look.
We give the private version out freely ONLY after we have had a chance to talk
with the user. You wouldn't want us giving your address to complete strangers
and neither would the people trying to sell their homes.
Helpful Hints
The basic flow of the RealBase program is as follows...
(1) Pick Database To Search/Browse
(2) Set Search Parameters
(3) Run Search
(a) If too many matches, add search parameters
(b) If no matches, loosen search parameters
(4) View Homes
Commands
In RealBase you basically highlight commands and selections and then press the
ENTER key. You will find in most cases there are two ways to highlight, either
use the cursor keys or the <L>eft, <R>ight, <U>p,<D>own letter commands.
Escape Key
The Escape key will back you up a step from most anywhere. If pressed enough
times, it will back you all the way out of the program.
Database Menu
This is the first menu in the RealBase program. You simply highlight the data-
base you wish to search and press the ENTER key. You can use the cursor keys or
the <U>p <D>own letter commands. Press the letter T to toggle the command line
at the bottom of the screen between displaying cursor keys or letter commands.
Note: Both command sets are active regardless of which is being displayed.

Page (3)
Main Menu
From this menu you will set your search parameters, search databases, and view
homes. You can highlight the command by using the cursor keys, letter keys, or
when setting search parameters, you could simply press the highlighted number
or letter to the left of each search item.
Hint For Setting Price Range and Square Feet
Remember when setting these two parameters, you will be setting a minimum and
maximum.
Hint While Setting Other Search Parameters
In most cases where the meaning of an abbreviation is unclear, a description is
printed in the middle of your screen.
Main View Menu
From this menu you can pick from two ways to view homes found in your search.
The short view gives you one line of information on each home. The long view
gives you 2 full screens of information on each home.
Short View Menu
Pretty basic menu, you can move forward a screen of homes at a time, or relist
from the beginning.
Long View Menu
Both letter and cursor keys are active here. Down cursor goes to the next home,
up cursor goes to the previous home.
Remember here you have two screens of information on each home. You toggle the
screen you wish to display with the letter O, (t<O>ggle). When you move to the
next home, which ever screen you currently have toggled ON, will be displayed.
The <S>ave command saves a copy both screens of the home currently displayed to
an ASCII text file. This file grows in that each time you press S a new home is
added to the file, it doesn't write over the old one.
The Goto Command lets move to a particular home number quickly. Say while in
the view short menu you saw that home number 120 looked interesting, you could
use the Goto command to quickly bring that home up.
The End
Well that's about it for instructions. I think you will find the program easy
to operate. I welcome any comments or suggestions you might have.
